Let’s get started!

What’s your work routine like?

I am employed full-time at Lumber and I work from home. I login by around 6 AM in the morning and begin planning the workday.

I allocate three to fours hours a day to writing and delivering content that needs to go out and the rest of the hours are spent on planning tasks, reach outs and meeting prospective partners or brainstorming with my team members.

I wrap up my work around 10 PM unless there is a late night call.

In between the day, I take a few hours to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner.

If you could go back in time and advice yourself when you first began this job, what would you say to yourself?

I had no direction then. I was not sure what I wanted to do career wise. I would definitely go back and tell myself to focus on writing (a passion that I discovered much later in life).

What do you believe is the deeper purpose of content marketing/ digital marketing beyond driving sales?

Apart from sales, it all about spreading awareness, elevating brand value, educating the audience, recognition, thought leadership and also to nurture relationship with a band of readers who follow your work.

Your piece of advice for the people interested in your profession

I have only two pieces of advice. Read a lot and write a lot. You may not publish everything that you write but keep writing as a exercise and your language will improve with every draft. Reading is a must. There is no set rule as to what you must read.

Books, newspaper, magazines, listen to audio books – that will unconsciously shape the way you write.

I never go to bed without reading something, it’s one good habit that has helped me a lot.
