No ado, let’s get it straight!
1. Spice it up a bit
Let’s first understand why the detectors flag your content as ‘AI-written’
If your process is this:
Extract information from top-ranking articles, organize it, and write content, then the next 1 minute of this article is for you.
Why?
Let me ask ChatGPT to confess something important:

AI writing tools are trained with data from the internet, quite similar to your research process.
Now, this research and writing method does not affect all the content.
But when does it turn into a critical issue?
When the detectors find the same context (information), pattern and structure, similar to the content generated by AI writing tools.
Let’s put this statement to test.
In this experiment, I will use 3 different AI tools: ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.
Here’s my prompt: ‘list 5 benefits of watching Rajinikanth movies’
- ChatGPT Result
2. Perplexity Result
3. Google Gemini Result
Every result is HOLY-SIMILAR 😨!
All the 3 results cover almost the same info – entertainment, fun, thalaivar’s charisma, style, motivation/ inspiration – all almost similar with just synonymous words.
Inference:
But just close your eyes and think of what points you would cover for this article at the basic phase?
It’s going to be the same information as what the AI tools have already generated.
So, that an hick.
“Similar information”
What I did do after understanding this?
I tried to break this information pattern.
Information Gain: My Savior Strategy
You might have come across this strategy – Information Gain (A very important concept behind ‘Helpful Content‘)
Google uses information gain score to rank our articles.
- It simply compares multiple articles,
- carefully picks the ones that have the most relevant and unique value, (In fact, this is where the Expertise from Google E-E-A-T comes into play).
- and ranks them at the top.
Now, compare this strategy to AI tools.
If I add information (tbh. unique value), I can make my article stand out from the AI-generated content + a bonus of pushing it to the top of SERP.
How can you do it?
- Compare your articles with these AI contexts,
- Do they have the same repeating info?
- Get into a quick research
- Introduce info that none of the top-ranking articles deliver.
you’ll see the AI flagging disappear,
and your articles rank at the top of the SERP.
So, that’s one way. One more strategy worked out for me.
2. Make A Mocktail With Tones
I love to write about tech and used to be a big fan of formal writing.
I’ve enjoyed the perks of sticking to my conventional writing tone – making 283+ content ranking in the Featured Snippets in the last 7.9 years.
Until AI Detectors messed up with me.
The more formal and conventional my writing was,
AI detectors just effortlessly flagged my 5 hours of research and 3 hours of writing as ‘AI Content’. What an injustice!
I needed a solution, without compromising on my love for Featured Snippets.
So I did a mocktail experiment with my articles.
Look at this Featured Snippet
Google loves to pick formal writing for its Featured Snippets
AI detectors love to pick formal writing to be flagged AI-written
So I stole a strategy from Hubspot and Uscreen.
First, check out this blog in Hubspot:
The intro is semi-formal
Scroll down a bit and you’ll find a Featured Snippet Block

The tone here is Formal
Got the strategy?
The explanation part is written in a casual, semi-formal tone, while the definition focused for featured snippets is Formal.
Now, run through this content in AI detector tools, you’ll see it approved ‘human-written’.
I didn’t want to be skeptical with the strategy, I wanted an affirmation.
So, went across to another favorite blog – Uscreen
The explanation part is semi-formal, casual
The definition ( or the one focused on Featured Snippets) is Formal
Eureka!
Now, that’s all I wanted to do,
- Add unique info to your content
- Mix up the tones
That’s it,
Stop worrying about this ‘AI Content Detected’ phrase, adapt to these strategies, and go enjoy writing amazing content as always!
